We were walking by around noon on a Saturday and this place smelled Sooooo good. We went inside and decided to get the taro bun and the hotdog bun. The bread is soft and fluffy!!! Really loved the taro bun -- the light, fluffy and sweet bread feels like a better complement to the sweet taro bun. The hotdog bun was good, but, to me, the soft bread wasn't as complementary for a savory profile. However, based on other reviews, I look forward to trying the pork floss roll and the tomato bacon bun next time.... Would definitely come back when in this neighborhood!!

Fresh bake goods with the cheapest price coffee near financial district- what else can you ask for! You pick out all your favorites with trays of goodies. Abundant selection of sweet to savory. It's located the crossroad of Chinatown and Little Italy so it's definitely as a bustling vibes for the street. They don't take Apple Pay but credit cards, debts and cash.

Very good baked goods. Fresh, tasty and reasonable prices. Take a tray and tongs to select what you want from the pasty show cases. They have both sweet & savory choices and breads. Do come earlier in the day for best selections. They ran out of pineapple buns, curry beef turnovers, and coconut tarts when we got here in the middle of the afternoon which was a bit disappointing because those are so good. But we did enjoy their lemon & coconut roll cake, the sesame cookies, and onion bread roll. Clean place and friendly service. They have other locations too in San Francisco and the Bay Area. The one on Clement Street is my favorite shop.

I dream about this place so often it's so bad. Their pork floss rolls are ELITE. The best thing on this planet. I have to thank my old co worker for introducing this spot to me. The other pastries are also delicious but nothing compared to the pork floss rolls. Used to be cash only, but they do accept card!

Stop by for a quick snack for breakfast with the family. Small bakery located in Chinatown SF with quiet of few option to choose from. Service was pretty quick. Everyone grabbed a pastry of their choice. I ended up with a ham and egg pastry which was pretty tasty. Not a bad place for a quick snack.

Today was a simple day. 2 corn ham buns, 1 coconut heart shape bun, 2 dinner rolls & salted long bread. Like the other Fancy Wheat location, tax is included in their meat buns, sign posted at register. I just hope they don't start to tax on veggies on buns.

fancy wheat field bakery is a self-serve chinese bakery at the edge of chinatown and north beach. they sell a variety of sweet and savory pastries, mooncakes etc. grab a tray and fill it with what you would like, pay at the counter. cash is recommended to avoid a card fee. i've been a couple of times now and have had the red bean bun, sponge honey cake, and pineapple bun. reasonable prices. my favorite is the pineapple bun. under $2, it is sweet and soft but with a crunchy exterior top. i like how fancy wheat field's is a tiny bit salty as it really brings out the sweetness. i've tried a couple of pineapple buns throughout chinatown and SF, and fancy wheat field has my favorite plain one so far. my only wish is that it could be served warm or they at least warm it up after you purchase it, because the baked items have been sitting on the shelf all day.

Maybe it was being able to speak Chinese, but I felt right at home here. The staff was extremely friendly and made recommendations of what I should get. I was here for the none other, pineapple bun. I heard a lot of good things about it and still on the look at out for a better place in the states compared to Hong Kong. Overall the bun was good, the bun itself was not as soft and flaky as I would have hoped. It was semi soft, but not too sweet. The crust on top was light and lacked that crunch I was looking for.
